A visit to the Midland Railway Centre at Swanwick was planned to coincide with a model railway show there. Access was by standard gauge train from Butterley.
The 2ft gauge line leaves from the Midland Railway Centre complex and runs down the wooded Golden Valley away from the standard gauge line. The locomotive in use was the Bagnall replica 0-4-2IST built by Allen Civil.
Model railway displays in the main narrow gauge shed made a number of locomotives there less than accessible and other locomotives reportedly on site were locked away.
