Farewell to north Wales - 15 August 2013

The weather still hadn't improved much and before making a visit to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, I called in at the Festiniog's Harbour Station

Train locomotive and pilot for the first WHR train of the day

Carriage cleaning - an important if unglamorous task
At the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, just one steam locomotive is currently available - Barclay 0-6-0T GERTRUDE of 1918.

Waiting to depart from WHHR Porthmadog Station

The train ride includes a museum visit.

KAREN, a 1942 Peckett 0-4-2T

08, a massive 0-6-0DM built by 23 August Works in Rumania in 1980

GELERT, a 1953 Bagnall 0-4-2T recently withdrawn for its 10-year boiler inspection

An attractive, airy display in the main exhibition hall
Outside, this 1970 Barclay
A brief visit to the Festiniog's Minffordd yard.
MOELWYN, a World War 1 Baldwin

And on to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Fairlie EARL OF MERIONETH in the station
. . and this 1941 Hunslet diesel outside.
